Task One - Work

To begin your investigation, you will need to discover something of what it was like to work in Blaenavon in 1842. Who went to work? What jobs did people do? How much were they paid? Was the work dangerous?

Carry out the activities below, and use your brains to think about the information you collect. With a bit of effort, you will find the answers to these questions and many others besides.

Don't forget to use the Evaluation Grid for Activity One and Two. Which of the statements best descibes what you think you can do? Which one describes how well you actually did?

Remember, if you really want to be an ace Inspector, there are links to websites, a booklist and resources to help you find out more about the 19th century, in Blaenavon and elsewhere.
