The World War II Veterans website has been developed as part of a lottery funded project. Several secondary schools from across Newport were involved with the 60th anniversary celebrations of the ending of World War II. History teachers from these schools were involved in the gathering of suitable teaching resources and also filmed interviews with war veterans from Newport and Holocaust survivors from across Europe.

The intention of the website is to help teachers find suitable teaching resources for use in their classrooms. In each of the sections, you will find video clips, web sites and in some cases photographs and other related documentation.

By clicking on the video clip links you can watch one of the videos, or download the video to use at your own computer by right mouse clicking on the link and selecting save target as.. from the menu. Once the video is downloaded onto your computer you can use it however you want to - possibly inserted into Microsoft Powerpoint presentation or placed in a SMART Notebook file for use on the interactive whiteboard

All the news clips from the period were downloaded from British Pathe. Their complete archive is available for all schools to access for free. If you would like some help in downloading a video from the British Pathe website then click here.

If you find difficulties in using the site or have problems with any of the links then please contact me. Contact
